Personalised Learning
This means that:
- Students have the opportunity to make choices about their learning
- Courses can be tailored to the needs of students
- A student’s career pathway is pivotal when making choices about courses or standards within a course
- Frequent conversations are held with each student about their learning and progress towards the goals they have chosen
- Individual career counselling meetings are held for all year 12 and 13 students
“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire” W.B. Yeats
Personalised Learning
is:
- when students know what they know, how they know it and what they need to learn next
- about making learning more meaningful for learners
- when learners co-create knowledge
- when a differentiated response for the different needs and aspirations of the learner is possible
- when there is an in-depth knowledge of strengths and weaknesses of learners
- when learners receive quality feedback and feed forward
- when there is quality communication with parents
is not:
- just about putting students at the centre of the system
- just learners receiving knowledge
- just subject choice
- just individual learning
