Deputy Principals PA

Ormiston Senior College are looking to appoint a dedicated personal assistant to provide essential administrative support to our Deputy Principals.

This is a permanent, term time only position with a start date of 28 January 2025.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive administrative support to our senior leadership team, including managing schedules, correspondence, incident reporting and meetings.
  • Handle confidential information with discretion and maintain accurate records.
  • Co-ordinate and assist with school events, projects, and initiatives.
  • Prepare reports, certificates, and other documentation as required.
  • Liaise with staff, students, parents, and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to work well under pressure to efficiently meet deadlines
  • Updating the college website with school media communication.
  • Working inline with the PA to the Principal at times on school related matters.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience in a senior administrative role, preferably within the education sector preferable.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g. Google Suite & the school management system KAMAR).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality.

Applicants must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa. A satisfactory NZ Police Vet will be required before commencing work.

Remuneration, duties and conditions will be as per the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement and will be based on qualifications and experience.

Teacher of design and visual communication (DVC) / product design

We are seeking a technology teacher to join our collaborative and creative team. There is flexibility in this role to teach design and visual communication (DVC), product design, or both, depending on your strengths and experience.

·Skills in CAD, CAM, and 3D printing to enhance student learning in product design

Kaiako – Te Ao Haka – Ormiston Senior College

We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Kaiako – Te Ao Haka to teach and facilitate our Senior Kapahaka class. This position could be part-time or full-time depending on the successful applicant’s experience, ability to teach other subjects, and personal circumstances.

While a registered teacher is preferred, this role is also suitable for someone looking to hold a Limited Authority to Teach (LAT).

·Proficiency in Kapahaka performance, including haka, waiata, poi, and mōteatea

·A strong understanding of Te Ao Māori, tikanga Māori, and NZQA Te Ao Haka assessments

·Experience in teaching or facilitating Māori performing arts, ideally at the secondary school level

·Competency in Te Reo Māori is highly desirable

·The ability to build strong relationships with ākonga, whānau, and the wider community

·A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the success of Māori students

Responsibilities include:

·Delivering Te Ao Haka lessons

·Preparing students for performances, regional and national competitions, and community events

·Developing a curriculum aligned with NZQA Te Ao Haka standards
